Innovation and Change powered by learning solutions: Senior experts lead the dialogue at the ELIG Pre-Conference Workshop at Online Educa Berlin:

With senior experts providing thought leadership on corporate learning, the learning continuum and formal learning, the Workshop ‘"Moving beyond the crisis powered by knowledge and learning solutions - what is the NEXT practice” repositioned the role of the learning and knowledge industries as the key engine in the Knowledge Society and explored how these industries could accelerate the move beyond the crisis by enabling value creation and innovation in the future economy.  A full description click here and a summary of the Workshop outcomes is also available. Below is the workshop agenda with presentations.

Welcome and Introductions from Richard Straub (Secretary General, ELIG) were followed by three keynote presentations:

• "Strategic Challenges of the Corporate Learning Industry" (197kb) Roland Deiser, Founder and Executive Chairman at European Corporate Learning Forum and Senior Fellow at the Centre for the Digital Future
• "Education for a Smarter Planet - Signposts, Strategy and the Educational Continuum" (1 MB) Mick Slivecko, IBM Global Education & learning Industry
• “Towards Lifelong Learning in the Public Sector” (192kb) Mike Morris, Manager, Education Sales Business Development and Solutions, European Markets, Cisco Systems

These led into a delegate discussion at three Round Tables:

• Policy Table led by Nikitas Kastis (President, MENON Network)
• Corporate Table led by Charles Jennings (Duntroon Associates & former Chief Learning Officer, Thomson Reuters)
• Schools and Universities Table led by Thekla Materne (Director e-Business Development Academic Education, Elsevier Publications)

Feedback from the tables was followed by a Panel Session: Knowledge and learning industries as the accelerators of value creation and innovation in the future economy – what is the NEXT practice users are looking for? The Panel included Fabrizio Cardinali (CEO, Giunti Labs) and David Worlock (Chief Research Fellow, Outsell Inc), who were joined by Richard Straub and the three keynote speakers, Roland Deiser, Mick Slivecko and Mike Morris.
