We.learn.it at the Frankfurt Book Fair, 9th to 13th of October 2013 

"The world - your Classroom",

This Learning Expedition took place at the Frankfurt Book fair - the largest global event on publishing and education content. To set up a design driven learning environment for schools we built on inspirations and concrete design elements from the Aalto Factory and School of Arts. Within this creative studio atmosphere of the Classroom, pupils will collect their impressions, ideas, thoughts and inspirations from the fair at different “stations”, like the tree house reading area. The results of this Learning Expedition will also feed into a collective idea pool for we.learn.it and will be visualized live in the classroom.

"Learning moves"

In addition to the ELIG presence at OEB with an ELIG Stand as in previous years, we have set up common activities with Pearson. Also, we were again invited as speakers or facilitators for some sessions.

One highlight was the hand-over of the ELIG position paper regarding"opening up Education" to Pierre Mairesse during the European Commission Panel.

The School Forum was again an excellent platform to present and discuss results from we.learn.it such as Learning Expeditions with Schools, like “Earth in Change” supported by Germany´s national centre for Aeronautics and space. Also, it was a pleasure to welcome Pedro May from the "Bayerisches Realschulnetzwerk", whos class travelled as "Climate-Explorer" in July from Peking to Irkutsk by train.

The VIDEO EDUCA results from Schools across Europe as well as insights from the three Exploratorium Labs from HoTEL, were a brilliant ground for further discussion.

ELIG was invited to host a session on December 6, 2013: "How to Guide Innovation in a Changing Education Ecosystem" - This interactive Learnshop aimed to critically reflect on how to innovate in a profoundly changing education ecosystem. What are the opportunities for innovation within emerging lifelong and life-wide multi-stakeholder and multi-sided ecosystems?
